June 24 - NVBA Meeting - Dr David Peck - All About Small Hive Beetles

  • 24 Jun 2025
  • 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Learn all about those pesky Small Hive Beetles and their biology!

Dr. Peck is the Director of Research and Education at Betterbee.  In addition to teaching classes and developing education materials, he is conducting research on testing new miticides and beekeeping products.  His doctoral work at Cornell University was supervised by Dr. Tom Seeley and focused on transmission of mites between bee colonies, as well as mite-resistant traits in untreated colonies.  He maintains an affiliation with Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine and also serves as the Academic Advisor for the Eastern Apicultural Society’s Certified Master Beekeeper Program.

Dr. Peck has kept bees for more than a decade, though his home apiary is often full of mite-riddled research colonies so he doesn't usually produce much honey.
