April 22 - NVBA Meeting - Can you do Splits? - the bee kind not gymnastics!

Join NVBA as we take a look at 4 different types of splits and the honey bee biology that makes them work. We will review:

• Walk away splits (or The I am going on vacation- what do I do with my bees? - split)

• the Doolittle or reverse hive spilt (a little more work – but better results)

• The Demaree (De’ mar ee) or vertical split (more work but no increase in hive numbers)

• The emergency swarm split (uh oh!! I have queen cells!)

• and for extra credit - The Rose Hive method – not really a split but a manipulation to manage swarming
