Jonna Sanders- local beekeeper who uses (Slovenian) hives to save her back from lifting heavy hive boxes!

Jonna Sanders is an Alexandria-based beekeeper and urban agriculture advocate. She grew up in Colorado, and has lived all over the world, mostly in the Middle East. Jonna first became interested in honeybees as a child and is now a PhD student in Entomology at the University of Maryland. Her research interests include honeybee-native pollinator interactions, as well as phylogenomics and phylogeography. As someone who lives with Scoliosis, she has transitioned her apiary to the AŽ Hives common in her family’s native homeland of Slovenia, in order to prevent spinal injuries.  She now enjoys managing her Carniolan colonies without the challenge of having to lift heavy boxes.

NVBA Business Meeting will take place at 7pm.

1. Voting for individual BOD nominees will take place through use of Zoom anonymous polling - no record of how individuals voted will be registered.

2. Presentation of NVBA Financials and proposed 2022 budget
